Can Norway Afford to Lose Its Entrepreneurs and Investors?
Building companies from the ground up is among the most time-consuming and demanding undertakings there is. It takes founders who are personally involved, working closely with committed investors. So what happens to a country when its founders and investors start to leave?
Drawing on many years of active investing in Norway, Sweden and international markets, Kjetil Holta shares his own experiences to illustrate the long-term consequences of Norway’s current policies. He also draws comparisons with Sweden and Switzerland, where policymakers have chosen different approaches, reflecting a different view of the importance of private entrepreneurship to society.
Speaker
Kjetil Holta is a Norwegian investor based in Switzerland. He was the fourth-generation owner of the industrial and power group Tinfos, founded by his great-grandfather in 1875, and sold his stake to the French group Eramet in 2008. For many years he invested through his company Holta Invest as an active owner in businesses across several sectors. Today he invests mainly in listed markets, alongside a small number of direct holdings.
