We are pleased to welcome Omar Halldorsson and his son Hilmir.

Omar grew up with golf. In 1997, he won the European Young Masters. He represented Iceland as a national team golfer and built a career in private banking. Then life took a U-turn. Shortly after relocating to Switzerland, his son Hilmir was diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. Omar left his career and became a full-time father for seven years so that Hilmir could engage in an intensive therapy program at home.

Inclusion is a word you hear everywhere. But when your child needs it, reality is different. No parent chooses to become a fighter. But it becomes necessary. And it never ends. Sport is no exception. With a patient father and a boy who never gives up, Hilmir found his way to the golf course.

If you watch Hilmir play golf, you won’t see a textbook swing. Yet he never misses a ball. Most golfers fight their own mind. Hilmir never does. He just hits the next ball. He plays the way he lives. Just happy to be included. This May, Hilmir will compete in the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Zug.

Omar will share their story. From a U-turn to the Special Olympics.
