22.05.2025: Central Banks: Setting policy, Eyeing Crypto, Facing Trump’s Tariffs

About

The recent shifts in U.S. trade policy, particularly the reintroduction of tariffs, have created significant uncertainty and raised important questions about how central banks across the world should respond. This uncertainty places renewed focus on how monetary policy decisions are made, how central banks assess the evolving economic environment, and how they adapt their actions to new challenges.

In this talk, Stefan Gerlach will discuss how central banks are likely to approach these issues in the current environment. He has also agreed to make some comments on the concerns central banks have about digital currencies—including questions around financial stability, payment systems, and the risks of misuse.

We are delighted to welcome Stefan Gerlach, a leading expert on central banking and monetary policy, to share his insights on these timely topics.
